JOLLY JEMIMA PRESCHOOL, LIVINGSTON ZAMBIA
I had the amazing opportunity of being placed in a Preschool in Livingston, Zambia through the volunteer organization IVHQ to assist in teaching Preschool Classes. This experience was truly unforgettable and life changing for me. I am currently collecting school supplies and teaching resources for the students and teachers of the Preschool. Children's Musical CD's, socks, pencils, notebooks, puppets, art supplies, jump ropes, storybooks, preschool puzzles and games are examples of some of the supplies. I plan on mailing the package to Africa the beginning of December. If you would like to participate, please email or contact me at (604) 812 6509 to arrange for pick up. Please join me in assisting this preschool with educational supplies - it will be greatly appreciated!

ALEX CLARKSON - A DEDICATED VOLUNTEER IN AFRICA
"Only a life lived for others is worth living." Albert Einstein
I had the amazing opportunity in meeting Alex Clarkson, a dedicated volunteer from the United Kingdom living and working in Africa.
Alex aims to raise 1500 pounds for Zambezi Sunrise Trust to fund a new bore hole and install a pump at the new school site. This will assist 470 children of the local school as well as children from Homework Club. This will provide drinking water, ensure toilets can flush, assist in the new vegetable garden and reduce the school water bill. If you would like to learn more about about this fantastic project, please visit www.goldengiving.com/fundraising/borehole.
BUILDING A YOUNG CHILD'S CREATIVE CONFIDENCE
Based on transforming an “oops" into something beautiful, this wonderful pop up book builds every young child’s creative confidence. "A spill, a smear, a smudge, a tear...when you think you have made a mistake, think of it as an opportunity to make something beautiful". Barney Saltzberg is the author and illustrator of "Good Egg", "Peekaboo Kisses", and lots of other bestselling books for children. I begin every class with this wonderful book!
BAKER DRIVE 2016/2017 FISH PHILOSOPHY PROJECT
This year, Baker Drive Elementary School is participating in a wonderful art project to celebrate the four pillars of the Fish Philosophy - Choose your attitude, Be present, Play and Make their day. Over 260 wooden fish/sea creatures were designed and cut out by our wonderful Baker Drive parent, Russ Giddings and every student will have an opportunity to paint these amazing creatures. Come early Spring, our Baker Drive community will come together and permanently hang these sea creatures in our school library. I have had the wonderful opportunity to work on this amazing project with the students and Baker Drive parents.
ARTS INTEGRATION LAB FOR PROFESSIONAL ARTISTS
In October I was chosen as one of fifteen Professional Artists in the Greater Vancouver area to participate in The Arts Integration Lab. The Arts Integration Learning Lab is presented by Art Starts in Schools, a not-for-profit organization that provides innovative arts programs for young people, practical resources for teachers and artists, and leadership in advocacy for arts in education. Art Starts regularly offers Infusion professional development opportunities for artists and teachers interested in bringing the arts and arts integration into schools across BC.
